FLOODLIGHT UPGRADE

May 18th 2022

With 10 out of 24 floodlights at Almswall nonfunctioning the place was getting a little dark and gloomy, tonight we are delighted to announce that we have been successful in our application to upgrade our old existing system with a brand new LED setup which is more eco friendly and will provide a fantastic venue for our members and the community to enjoy.

This investment will not only reduce our energy consumption it will reduce costs making us a more sustainable club. We are so excited to get this project started as well as the new pitch Almswall will be unrecognisable from when we received the keys in December 2021.

We have to say a massive thank you to North Ayrshire Council and The Scottish Football Partnership Trust for their support and belief in the Academy to deliver this project to the community. Without the support of Louise (NAC), Kimberly (NAC), Stuart (SFP), NAC Asset Transfer Team and many others this would not have been possible.

The future is certainly "bright"

OUR NEW HOME

March 8th 2022

This is one we have all been waiting for, Almswall is our home and we love it, since December and the official handover we have been working hard to make improvements to the facility and I hope you have been able to see all the hard work the volunteers have made to the building and surrounding area. There is a lot more to be done but this is just the start.
Almswall has been unloved for a while and needed a fresh lease of life, the main attraction of the facility is the all weather 3G pitch where all of our member teams have been training since 2019. The pitch is 16 years old and at the end of it’s productive life. If you go onto google maps you would be mistaken for thinking the pitch was a coal mine due to the amount of black rubber crumb. One of our main aims was to get the surface renewed into a fantastic and state of the art green 3G pitch where people will enjoy training and playing of all ages where we can welcome more community activity on purpose built facility.
Today after huge work behind the scenes we are delighted to announce that we have been successful in our funding applications to secure a brand new state of the art 3g surface at Almswall with the works to commence early April 2022.
This would not have been possible without the tireless work from our volunteers and support from the various funders so we have quite a few people to thank for making this possible.
A massive thank you to North Ayrshire Council for believing in us from the start of the Asset Transfer including Joe, Kimberly, Louise, Rhona, Audrey and everyone involved in the Community Investment Fund for supporting us with £45,000 towards the pitch relay.
The club were successful in securing £120,000 from the Scottish FA’s Grassroots Pitch & Facilities Fund. This would also not have been possible without the support of the Scottish FA’s Cammy Watt and the South West team including John Brown and David Sheldon.
Last but not least, families, friends, supporters, players, coaches, volunteers that give up countless hours to support us in achieving our dreams on a daily and weekly basis. No matter how tough things get they are always there to push us on and encourage us to never stop dreaming or achieving.
We cannot wait until the work commences and we can unveil Kilwinning’s latest state of the art surface that will be a huge benefit to the community and all who wish to engage with us going forward.
